On a day where Zinedine Zidane's men defeated Sporting Gijon 5-1, Barcelona made sure to remind fans of Spanish soccer exactly which side reigns supreme, putting six unanswered goals past Athletic Bilbao to secure all three points.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the first half, tucking home a penalty to round off a play that had also awarded a red card to goalkeeper Iraizoz.
Then, Brazilian forward Neymar added a second goal at the half-hour mark, streaking down the left wing unmarked and chipping his shot past the 'keeper after Luis Suarez sent a long, curving through pass his way.
The remainder of the match belonged to Suarez, who scored in the 68th minute off a superb cross into the box, then wrapped up his scoringl haul on the day with an 82nd-minute hat-trick goal. It brought the final tally to 6-0 on a memorable night at the Nou Camp.
Not a bad day for the Blaugrana.
