Chelsea signs New York Red Bulls standout Matt Miazga

Chelsea has signed centre-back Matt Miazga from the New York Red Bulls, to a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Miazga, 20, enjoyed a breakout 2015 MLS season. The Polish-American has been linked with a move to the Blues for some time now, and completes the switch to Stamford Bridge near the end of the January transfer window.
Miazga signed with the Red Bulls out of the club's academy on a Homegrown Contract back in 2013 and made 34 appearances, the bulk of them last season when he featured in 26 matches. The 6-foot-4 central defender is a presence in either box and scored one goal last season off a free-kick in a derby match against New York City FC.
